Why Clothing Is Called Clothing

Clothing objects worn around the human body. In most cases, clothing is composed of textiles or soft clothes, but over the years it has also included other clothing made from animal skins and various thin sheets of natural products and materials found in the outside environment. It could be trousers made out of the hide of a cow, sheep or pig, which would be extremely uncomfortable for you, as a human being. How could humans wear such things? At this point in time, probably some crude form of dressing was invented to answer this question, as nobody knew what was to come next.

If you think that the answer is that we wear clothes so as to hide ourselves from the world, then you have forgotten some of the history of dressing, and why people wore clothes. As humans, we had no choice, as survival required that we find a way to survive. One way of doing this was by adorning ourselves. The early cavemen could not have access to adornments of any kind, so they created the rudimentary items that could at least be used as necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. The art of adorning was used to make us look more attractive, to attract the opposite sex and to advertise our existence.

So, when we speak of dressing up, we usually think of adornment. The concept of clothing includes putting on something to make oneself look more attractive. It may be a piece of jewellery, or it may be a piece of clothing. But it also involves having clothes on, so that the wearer provides protection against the cold, the heat, the rain, the humidity, and the ups and downs of life. Clothing provides protection from many things that often damage or destroy other objects, or that could cause bodily harm.

Clothes provide protection from such things as water, wind, sun, insects, stones, chemicals, and fire. And clothing usually includes a coat or a suit, trousers and a shirt, jackets and sweaters, gloves and boots, outerwear, undergarments, swimwear, lingerie, hats, scarves, and any other articles that may be worn as accessories. We may refer to these articles as clothing.

Some people believe that clothing is an adornment, too, but they usually mean wearing the article to work or play, not to adorn oneself. Some people wear clothing for functional or comfy reasons, while others wear it only for fashion or decoration. Of course, some people wear both at once, for variety.

A good example of the second reason for wearing clothes is when you are going out to dinner. You do not necessarily have to have the latest fashions in fashionable clothing to be stylish at a restaurant. What is important is that you are dressed properly for the occasion. You should leave at least two hours in advance if you want to reserve a table with a respectable waitstaff. You will feel more confident in your appearance if you are dressed appropriately.

Clothes that are appropriate for formal occasions include a tuxedo, dinner jacket with a cummerbund, and a black or dark colored shirt, tie, or bowtie. These items of clothing will show respect to the dress code. You do not have to wear long sleeves; a short-sleeved shirt is just fine, especially if you are attending a formal function with friends.

The third reason for wearing a garment that is considered clothing is for comfort. If you feel the cold coming on your skin, you can put on a sweater or a pair of pajamas before putting on a thin layer of fabric over your skin. This is called a pad. If you want to be more fashionable, you can wear a thin layer of cloth that is like a sweater over the pad, and this is called a top.
