Politics – What is it?

Politics is an essential part of our society. Without politics, there would be no public sphere or institution of rule; the rule of law wouldn’t be enforced; people wouldn’t be able to criticize their leaders or the political systems of other countries. Politicians rely on the support of the people to keep their government’s stable. Politics plays a key role in our daily lives and influences our choices in many aspects of life.

Politics is the collection of political actions which are associated with the allocation of power in societies, groups or associations, including the allocation of public goods or status. The field of politics is known as political science, hence the term ‘political science’. Politics is an important area of study that has influences on all the other fields of study. Politics is different from the natural sciences, because it is concerned with the societal organization and the institutions involved.

Politics is divided into two main fields. The first one is the governmental system and the second is the political party systems. The major influence of politics on the society is found in the political systems. All political parties that exist in a country have an important role to play in the politics of a country.

The political parties organize elections for them to become the ruling party. In electing the political party, the voters elect one person from among the party members to form a government. At the time of an election the ruling party ensures that all laws are enacted in its favor. Politics also involves the policies which are adopted by the political party and is enforced through legislation.

Politics deals with the selection of officers of the government. There is a government head who is called the President of the country or the prime minister. The government also has other top level officials like cabinet members, secretaries, and several other members. Politics also involves the formulation of rules for the conduct of government business. There are various legal systems through which politics is conducted. These systems include customary systems, constitutional systems, and modern systems.

Politics involves various types of social organizations. It includes the following: trade unions, the fraternal organizations, religious organizations, corporate bodies, academic institutions, civic organizations, political parties, labor unions, private associations, charities, and various other social groups. All these groups have their own way of politics.

Politics deals with various types of issues affecting the societies. There is a concept of justice in politics. Everyone should have a sense of fairness and equity that must be maintained in each and every society. Every group in the society should have its own justice system based on the policies which are formulated.

Politics involves various types of institutions. There are different levels of government. At the national level there are cabinets, parlia-nationalas, presidencies, and national parliamentary. At the local level there are municipalities, village councils, and town halls. At the regional and local levels of politics there are mayoralties, parish seats, and provincial assemblies.

Politics deals with the societal aspects of human interaction. Politics deals with the social organizations of the individuals. Societies are made by the individuals within the societies. In the political arenas human beings can engage in open conflict or mediation. There are different types of politics which are constitutional politics, constitutional monarchies, multipart government, proportional government, and first past nationalization. At the regional and local levels of politics there are communal councils, and communal governance arrangements.

Politics involves various types of social groups. The major types of social groups at politics are: religious groups, ethnic groups, nationalities, and class. At all levels of politics all these groups have an important role to play. The religion in politics refers to the different religions that have existed as important social organizations in societies. The ethnic groups refer to the major groups of people who live together in a specific area or region.

The nationalities include the peoples of certain countries who have different languages and culture. The major language and culture of each country are also an important aspect of politics. The class of any society is the major indicator of its level of politics.

All the major political parties participate in the politics. The major forces of politics include the major national parties such as Labor, Liberal, Green-Labor, Labor Left, Liberal Democrats, and the New Left. Other minor parties include Reform and Animal Rights parties.
