Art Fundraiser with
Turkish painter "Betceli"
at Del Mar Terrace
Studio

artist Maura Harvey will host an exhibit of renowned
Istanbul painter Haluk Mutlu, known as Betçeli, on
Saturday, June 16, 2007, from 2 to 6 p m.
The
theme of the show is:
“Mitos: Creation Myths of the World and Mankind.”
A portion of the sale of works by both Mutlu and
Harvey will be donated to ATASC-SD.
This Turkish Delight will be held in Harvey's studio
in Del Mar Terrace, 12808 Via Latina, Del Mar 92014.

Istanbul Meets San Diego

Haluk N. Mutlu
Born 1954 in Istanbul. Graduate of Sisli Terakki
High School and State Fine Arts Academy of Istanbul,
with a major in Industrial Design. Studied in
the US for
masters degree in Rhode Island School of design. Returned to Turkey in 1979. Founded Architectural
Studio with fellow architects, joined Northern Telecom
Research and Development Team in 1981. In the mean
time attended several Business Administration courses
in University of Istanbul. From 1986 until 1990 worked
in advertisement and marketing sectors as product
manager and director. From 1991 until present took
part as a share holder in a tour operator Tourag Tours
Inc. and Promet Architectural and Industrial Design
Ltd. companies. From 1992 to 1997, worked as an
anchorman for Deutsche Welle German Radio and also
works as professional tour leader and guide in Turkey
as well as abroad. In 1996 opened first personal
painting exhibition in Amasya, Turkey and several
others followed afterwards including an exhibition in
1998 in Shepparton in Australia. Since 2001 Lecturer
in Archeology and Fine Arts at the Dogus University in
Istanbul.
Married with 3 boys.

Maura
Harvey
Maura Harvey
produces individual pieces and collaborates with
graphic artists from around the world. She has
studied painting and collage in Aix-en-Provence and
San Diego and has exhibited in local venues
including the Encinitas Civic Center Gallery, UCSD
Geisel Library, the Japanese Pavilion in Balboa
Park, and the Torrey Pines Association Art Show, and
the Next Door Gallery in San Diego. Her poetry
in both Spanish and English has appeared widely. In
1993 the bilingual collection, Poemas, was
published in Venezuela. She has served on the
editorial board of California State Poetry Society
since 1999 and has been a frequent editor of the
California Quarterly. Ms.Harvey was on the
Encinitas City Council and was Mayor of Encinitas in
1993.
Because of our
geography and history, in California we have a
unique position as multi-cultural leaders on the
world art scene. Maura Harvey has shown a lifelong
commitment to the healing, unifying power of the
arts.
