"HACİVAT KARAGÖZ NEDEN ÖLDÜRÜLDÜ?"

Konu:  14. Yüzyılda Bursa'dayız. Osmanlı İmparatorluğunun temelleri atılmaktadır. İşte bu yıllarda akıllı ama cahil, sinirli ama en komik sinirli Karagöz, kendisinin tam tersi olan zekasını fırsatçılğı ile birleştirip her işten sıyrılan Hacivat ile tanışır. Orhan Gazi’nin adına yapılan caminin inşaatında beraber çalışmaya başlarlar. Ama yaptıkları işten çok mizah yönü kuvvetli sohbetleri hemen farkedilir. Atışmaları sırasındaki komiklikleri o kadar ünlü olur ki davetten davete koştururlar gülmek isteyenlerin gönlünü yapmak için. Şöhretin bedeli şimdi nasıl ağırsa o yıllarda da bundan farksızdır. Hacivat ve Karagöz’ün hem güldüren hem düşündüren diyaloglarından rahatsız olanların kahramanların kaderini değiştirmeleri hiç de zor olmayacaktır.

Synopsis: We're in fourteenth century Bursa, during the birth of the Ottoman Empire. It is during these times that the uneducated but smart Karagöz -- the funniest angry man -- meets Hacivat, a polar opposite of his who is always looking for a clever way to get himself out of various situations. After they both find jobs helping to build a mosque in the honor of Orhan Gazi, it is not their work but their hilarious banter that soon attracts everybody's attention. They quickly find themselves being invited all over the country to perform for those seeking a good laugh. However, in those days -- just as it is today -- the price of fame is high. It does not take long for those who are angered by Hacivat and Karagöz's entertaining yet thought-provoking performances to change the duo's fate.

Time: Saturday October 21, 7:00-9:00 pm. Doors open at 6:30pm  (Nobody will be allowed inside after 7:00pm.)

Suggested Donation: $6 for general public, $4 for members, $3 for students.

Directions: From I-5, take the La Jolla Village Dr. exit and head west. Turn right onto Villa La Jolla Dr. When you get to the T-intersection at the end of the road, you'll be in front of the Gilman parking structure. Center Hall is two blocks west of the Gilman Parking Structure. On weekends you can park on any of the surface lots as well, provided there are no signs indicating a permit is required seven days a week (rare). Please see the following map for detailed directions. Center Hall is building 984 on the map.
