Konu: Van'ın bir köyünde yaşayan 17 yaşındaki Meryem (Özgü Namal), perişan ve baygın halde, bir göl kenarında bulunur. Ailesi, kızlarının bir namussuzluk yaptığını düşünerek töre gereği öldürülmesine karar verir. Öldürme görevi ise, Gabar Dağları'nda komando olarak askerliğini tamamlayan yakın akrabası Cemal'e (Murat Han) verilir. Çıktıkları ölüm yolculuğunda, Meryem ve Cemal'in yolları Profesör İrfan Kurudal (Talat Bulut) ile kesişir ve bu karşılaşma üçünün de kaderlerini değiştirecek mutluluğa doğru bir yolculuğun başlangıcı olur.
Zülfü Livaneli'nin Türkiye'de 39 baskı yapan romanından uyarlanan Mutluluk'un ödüllü müzikleri de yine sanatçıya ait.

Yol Tarifi: I-5’den La Jolla Village Dr. çıkışını alınız ve batıya doğru gidiniz. Yokuşu çıkıp yol N. Torrey Pines Road olduktan hemen sonra ışıklardan sağa Revelle College Drive üzerine dönünüz. Yolun sonunda Scholars Drive South üzerine sola doğru döndükten sonra ilk sağdan aşağıdaki haritadaki büyük otoparka giriniz. York Hall buradan kuzeydoğu yönünde kısa bir yürüyüş mesafesindedir (yine haritada belirtilmiştir). Haftanın yedi günü rezerve olduğu yazan yerler (çok azdır) haricinde her yere ücretsiz park edebilirsiniz.

Synopsis:
17-year-old Meryem is found unconscious by a lake. Her family, who lives in a village in eastern Turkey, thinks that she has willingly had her chastity corrupted and decides to kill her by the necessity of custom. The task is given to her close relative Cemal. Meanwhile, a well-known sociology professor Irfan Kurudal sets sail, leaving the life he lived in Istanbul as a result of the identity crisis he has been going through. Meryem and Cemal cross paths with Professor Kurudal unexpectedly on their journey of death. Are these three people now going to be able to forge their own destiny on this journey? Wıll they get a second chance at happiness?
This movie is based on a novel by the famous Turkish musician and and writer Zülfü Livaneli, who also composed the soundtrack.

Directions: From I-5, take the La Jolla Village Dr. exit and head west. Shortly after LJ Village Drive becomes N Torrey Pines Road (i.e. after you've driven up the hill), turn right onto Revelle College Drive at the stoplight (see map below). When you get to the T-junction at the end, make a left onto Scholars Drive South and take the first right into the parking lot indicated on the map. York Hall is a short walk northeast of the parking lot (also indicated on map). On weekends you can park in any spot on any surface lot free of charge, provided there are no signs indicating a permit is required seven days a week (rare).
